About Us
It all started on April 19, 2009. Jeremy Parker, founder of VoteForArt.com, was finishing an intense weekend visiting some friends at the University of Maryland when he decided last minute to run to the campus bookstore to pick up a Magazine for his 3 hour train ride home to NYC. Walking through the bookstore he noticed that all the UMD graphic tees for sale were pretty lame. They were too simple and plain and it got Jeremy thinking. The next three hours on the train, Jeremy wrote up the business plan to what is now Vote For Art .Vote For Art is a new venture launched by the large apparel company MV Sport and will be the home for collegiate-focused graphic design contests. We have partnered with 6 major universities for the initial launch in November. Schools will post contests, "Logo Contest" or "Homecoming Game Design" for example, and all submissions will be voted on by the V4A community. The winners' artwork will be printed on t-shirts and sold on our website as well as at the University bookstore (Winning designers will earn a cash reward and a percentage of t-shirt sales). MV Sport already has deep vendor relationships with many university bookstores, allowing Vote For Art the semi-exclusive ability to reach college consumers on their turf.
